Carnivore Diet Condiments

May 18, 2022 by Live Ancestral Team Leave a Comment

Many people think the carnivore diet is bland, but you can still enjoy flavorful food by eating condiments.

However, it’s also important to know which popular condiments to avoid so you don’t lose the benefits of carnivore eating.

In this article, we will tell you which condiments you can and can’t eat while closely following your diet.

Best Condiments for the Carnivore Diet

Fish Sauce

Fish sauce is an ideal carnivore diet seasoning simply made from anchovies and sea salt and gives a nice umami flavor to your food. What’s more, it contains a lot of essential amino acids that support sleep. These amino acids boost the metabolism and the digestive system.

Fish sauce is also a healthy source of omega 3. Add some fish sauce to chicken to improve the flavor. You can also stir fry some beef cubes in tallow and then sprinkle them with fish sauce. You can also add fish sauce to fish itself!

Butter

You are not only allowed to spread your juicy steaks with butter but rather encouraged to do so on a carnivore diet because of its multitude of benefits. It contains several important and essential nutrients such as Vitamin A & E.

Vitamin A improves your immune system and is vital for growth & development. Vitamin E reduces oxidative stress and improves your antioxidant defenses. Moreover, butter has CLA, a kind of fat that, according to research, may have cancer-fighting properties, improve your immune function, and help with body fat management.

You can mix it into ground beef, spread it over sizzling meat, or melt and drizzle it over seafood. It is better that you go for organic butter instead of processed butter. Butter is also a key ingredient in bulletproof coffee on the carnivore diet.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is another condiment to spice up your meals. It is a good source of Vitamin C, which is essential for gum health, connective tissue repair, and bone formation. Simply squeeze it into homemade chicken stock, over your scrambled eggs, or simply dunk your fish into lemon juice and enjoy the taste.

Bacon Sprinkles

Bacon is full of flavor and nutrition. Not only can you eat it as a part of your meal on your carnivore diet, but you can also use it to add flavor to your regular meals. Simple dice up some bacon, fry it, as usual, sprinkle it over your meal and enjoy!

Worst Condiments for the Carnivore Diet

The following store-bought condiments should be avoided. Even though you shouldn’t eat the ones you buy from the store, you can still make your own recipes.

Mayonnaise

Mayo is made from seed oils, such as canola and soya bean. When you are on a carnivore diet, you need to stick to animal-based ingredients only and this would defeat the purpose of the diet. It is full of fat and is calorie-dense as well.

You definitely shouldn’t eat any store-bought mayo on the carnivore diet that is made with seed oils, as these oils can be harmful and irritate your gut.

Ketchup

Commercial ketchup comes with a lot of sugar and other preservatives which are not good for you and your diet. It is fairly high in sugars, and salt, and is acidic food. If you have heartburn, acid reflux, or food allergies, you should stay away from ketchup.

Tips for Maximizing Flavor When Only Eating Meat

You can intensify the flavor of meat, fish, and poultry with the help of high-heat cooking techniques, like grilling, broiling, or searing. This will help to brown the meat and will add flavor to it. Moreover, use lemon juice to help lift & balance the flavor of your meaty meals.

Nothing is better than salt to bring out the best in your meals. Sprinkle some on your meals and enjoy delicious yet simple carnivore meals. The best salt for the carnivore diet is sea salt.
